Welcome to Golden National Historic District and Coyote Wetlands

Golden is a ghost town located 3 miles east of Wolf Creek, Oregon.   For a short time it was a bustling mining town of more than 200 inhabitants, with "two churches and no saloons".   Today vistiors to this National Historic District can explore the remaining buildings perched above the valley where miners once toiled.  The church stands firm and ready for contemplation of history and deeper things.

The former mining area is being reclaimed by slowing down runoff with ponds and wetlands.  Native plants are being planted and weeds removed to invite wildlife.  Trails wind through the site to reveal natural and historic treasures.

Golden is open to the public year round at no charge.  Visitors are encouraged to contribute to stabilization and restoration activities through tax deductible donations to: Golden Coyote Wetlands, Inc. PO Box 1562, Grants Pass Oregon 97528
